$20,000 Paid in WA Guard's Sexual Harassment Suit

Kimberly D. Metzger, a guard at the Special Offender Center in Monroe, was
subjected to sexual harassment from March 12, 1995 to October 12, 1995, by
guard Eugene Porter. Porter made statements such as:" I know you want this
big black dick; we can get together later baby. You don't know what it's
like unless you've had a black man and you make me hot; see how hot I'm
getting. You're not getting enough." He would also rub his crotch and grab
her breasts. He told two employees in the prison infirmary. "Kim is a
lesbian if she don't want me." His racist comment was: I've never been with
a white woman, white women give you worms and I don't want worms." In
October 1997, Metzger, represented by Russ Juckett of Everett filed suit in
state court alleging violation of state discrimination laws. On March 19,
1999, she settled the suit for $20,000. See: Metzger v. State of
Washington, Snohomish County Superior Court, Case No. 97-2-083999.
