Washington Prisoner Gets nearly $10,000 for Work Detail Injury
David Wolfrum, a Washington state prisoner, was closing the doors on a semi-trailer at the McNeil Island Correction Center when the brakes failed, causing the truck to roll backward, pinning Wolfrum against a loading dock. He sued in state court, claiming back and shoulder injuries, and the state settled the case for $7,500 for the injuries and $1,925.36 for medical expenses. See: Wolfrum v. Garrerro, King County Superior Court, Case No. 85-2-15202-6 (1990).
