TDCJ Pays $100,000 to Settle MVA Personal Injury Case

On May 28, 2004, the TDCJ agreed to pay a $100,000 settlement to Linda Holcomb for injuries she suffered in a motor vehicle accident on November 14, 2001 involving her and TDCJ employee, Rickey Neeley. Represented by Palestine, Texas attorney James D. Hankins, of Freeman & Hankins, LLP, Ms. Holcomb filed suit against Neeley accusing him of negligence when the vehicle he was driving rear-ended her vehicle as she was stopped for oncoming traffic.

The terms of the agreement stipulate that in return for the $100,000 payment, Ms. Holcomb agreed to dismiss her case with prejudice and release defendants from all future liability in connection to it. Accordingly, the order dismissing the case was filed on June 22, 2004. See: Holcomb v. Williams, Anderson County Dist. Ct., 349th Jud. Dist., No. 4980.
