Washington DOC Agrees to Pay $450 To Settle Public Disclosure Act Suit
On March 1, 2006, the Washington Department of Corrections (DOC) agreed to settle a Public Disclosure Act (PDA) suit for $450.
The suit, brought by Nicholas Roy, a prisoner at the Airway Heights Corrections Center, alleged that the DOC failed to respond to a PDA request for documents pertaining to his DOSA sentence. The DOC acknowledged Roy’s request for records, but took no action in response to it. The DOC settled for $450. See: Roy v. Wilson-Kirby, Spokane Co. Sup. Ct., No. 2005-02-05800-0 (2006). Roy represented himself throughout the case.
