Los Angeles County Settles in Officer Traffic Accident
The County of Los Angeles settled in May 2012 for $525,000 with Plaintiff Arthur Lerille, Jr., in a Los Angeles County Superior Court, a claim alleging negligent driving on the part of a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff. Attorney fees and costs of $83,426 were incurred.
On November 8, 2008, at 5:25 a.m., Defendant ran a red light in his patrol car in unincorporated Los Angeles County, broadsiding Plaintiff, causing injury. The County claimed Plaintiff was not wearing a seat belt, which cased his injuries. Internal investigation concluded fault on the part of the deputy. Administrative action was taken against the deputy. See: Arthur Lerille, Jr. v. County of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Ct., Case No. KC 059 580.
