BOP Awards $3,033 and Sick Leave to Settle EEOC Claim
The federal Bureau of Prisons paid $3,033.71 and restored 38 hours of sick leave to a Unit Manager who claimed Age, Race, and Reprisal discrimination.
Mildred Greer worked at FCI Yazoo City in Mississippi as a Unit Manager. Her Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint stated that Warden Khurshid Z. Yuseff failed to act on seven complaints Greer made between August 3, 2001, and December 12, 2001, of a hostile work environment base on sex created by her supervisor.
In contrast, Yuseff “acted immediately” to resolve a hostile work environment complaint of a “young white female.” Greer, who was 47 and African-American, said Yuseff did not act on her complaints due to her age and race and because he “hates” Greer.
BOP agreed on May 22, 2003, to settle the claim by paying Greer $3,033.71 and restoring 38 hours of sick leave. See: Greer v. Ashcroft, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Case No 130-A3-8051X.
