Police arrest man at university dorm
Faces charges of trespassing, resisting arrest

DAYTON | University of Dayton police arrested a 39-year-old Kettering man Sunday night,
accusing him of trespassing on a women's floor of Marycrest Hall. Investigators said they
are not sure the suspect is linked to the rash of Peeping Tom and public indecency cases in
recent weeks on and around campus.
Scott Joseph Denney, 2152 Courtland Ave., was loitering and looking into dorm rooms when
he was stopped by UD police, public safety director John Delamer said Monday. Denney did
not heed officers' initial warnings to stop and tried to push past them, Delamer said. When
he was arrested, he was carrying several pairs of women's panties and a Taser gun,
Delamer said.
Denney is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Dayton Municipal Court on charges of
carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and
obstructing official business, according to a court spokeswoman.
UD police have been working with Dayton and Oakwood police investigating several
voyeurism and indecency incidents, including a Jan. 23 report in the 300 block of Firwood
Drive in Dayton, in which a 21-year-old UD student told police she saw a man outside her
bedroom window trying to look through the blinds as she was dressing. The man fled.
UD police also are looking into at least five cases, between Dec. 6 and Jan. 18, of a man
exposing himself and making suggestive comments in an area behind Virginia Kettering
Residence Hall and along the campus boundary with Woodland Cemetery. Delamer said last
week those indecency incidents may not be related to the voyeurism complaints.
Investigators will show photos of Denney to the victims in other cases to determine whether
he is linked to any other incidents, Delamer said.
